The exhibition will feature 80 masterpieces from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, one of the world’s most distinguished museums. Because the Museum has never received funds for acquisition from governmental sources, its renowned collection of more than 500,000 works of art is the result of peerless private philanthropy by great donors and collectors. The generosity of these donors will be explored through the presentation of their treasured gifts. Works from across time and around the globe are included in the MFA’s celebrated collections of ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Japanese art, and its remarkable collections of French, American, and Contemporary paintings, prints, and photographs.
